Friends of the Rockville Library

 

Established in 1999, The Friends of the Rockville Library (FOTRL) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization which provides support for the Cochrane-Rockville Public Library's improvement. The primary fund raiser of the Friends is an annual book sale of donated books. Proceeds are used to purchase equipment and materials as well as sponsor library programs such as an armchair traveler series, movie and dinner nights, a youth art month reception, summer reading program, a sit ‘n’ stitch group, various performances, annual poetry celebration and other library events.  Your support as a Friend insures that the library will continue to play a vital role in the educational and cultural life of our community.  But don't just take our word for it, check out the value of library service calculator to quantify the many benefits of the library for yourself!

Book Sales

The Friends of the Rockville Library will hold their next book sale on the following dates:

  • Thursday, May 17th from 4-7pm

    • Everyone is welcome!

  • Friday, October 18th from 10am-6pm

    • Everyone is welcome!

  • Saturday, October 19th from 8am-noon

    • Everyone is welcome!

The sale will feature a large selection of fiction, non-fiction and children’s books as well as non-print materials like CDs and videos. Prices start at 25 cents.  You can also join the Friends or renew at this sale and receive 10% off your purchase.

If you wish to volunteer for the book sale, please contact the Branch Manager, Donna-Jo Webster at (804) 749-3146 or dwebster@pamunkeylibrary.org. A Stitch in Time: Quilting through the Ages
Saturday February 4 at 2:00 p.m.
Join award-winning quilter Mary Biggs for a fascinating "piece-by-piece" look at quilting history, tools, and techniques (even if you can't tell a nine-patch from a bear's claw). Many of Mary's quilts will be on display in the library.
Refreshments provided.

Chocolate Valentines!
Tuesday February 14 at 7:00 p.m.
Ages 11-18
Who says you need a sweetheart on Valentine’s Day? Join your friends at the library and sample chocolate treats provided by the Friends of the Rockville Library. Learn some line dances and share your best and worst Valentine stories, too.
Refreshments provided.

Meetings

The Advisory Board meets quarterly on the third Tuesday at 7:00 pm.  Meetings are open to the public.  Call the library at (804) 749-3146 to confirm date, time and location.  A general membership meeting is held in October of each year.  The membership is informed of meetings and other activities via email or if requested, in writing.  Subscribe to our mailing list to be kept abreast of upcoming Friends-sponsored programs, book sales, special events and board meetings.
